Congressmen Scott Taylor and Luis Correa Introduce the Homeland Production Security Act
WASHINGTON D.C.- April 4, 2017—Today, Congressmen Scott Taylor(R-VA) and Luis Correa(D-CA) introduced the Homeland Production Security (HOPS) Act. The HOPS Act would ensure that production of uniforms for the Department of Homeland Security and agencies under them, such as Customs and Border Protections, would be in the United States instead of foreign factories, which both keeps jobs in our country and reduces a potential national security threat.
Congressman Taylor had this to say about the HOPS Act: “To think that our Customs and Border Protection uniforms were produced in El Salvador and Honduras boggles the mind. Our bill keeps us safer and puts Americans back to work."
Congressman Correa stated: “By manufacturing DHS uniforms in the US, we’re not only strengthening our national security, but also helping bring jobs back to the United States. The men and women protecting our borders can feel proud to know they will be protecting Americans in a uniform made by Americans.”
