Congressman Taylor Secures $10 Million for Ohio Projects in House Funding Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Dave Taylor (OH-02) today applauded the funding of nine of his Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26) Community Projects, which passed in the government funding bill, H.R. 6938, through the House of Representatives by a vote of 397-28. This funding will return $10,050,366 of federal taxpayer dollars to southern Ohio for critical local projects. The bill now moves to the Senate for consideration.
“I am proud to secure $10 million for southern Ohio to address critical public safety and water infrastructure needs in our community,” said Congressman Taylor. “Each of the nine projects in this bill resolves issues that Ohio families have had to make do with for far too long. I’m pleased to deliver funding to develop local infrastructure, give law enforcement the tools they need to keep our communities safe, and make it easier for Ohioans’ basic needs to be met.”
Project 1: Wellston Police Department Multi-Agency Radio Communication Systems (MARCS) Radio Upgrades Program
The Wellston Police Department (WPD) will receive $200,000 to upgrade its outdated radios to MARCS-compatible digital systems. These funds will provide portable radios for all officers and mobile radios for each patrol vehicle, ensuring effective communication with neighboring law enforcement, EMS, and fire departments. These funds will bridge the funding gap for this police department, as this essential upgrade exceeded their budgetary allowance and is critical for ensuring officer safety and operational effectiveness.
Project 2: Clermont County Coroner’s Office Forensic Lab
The $400,800 awarded to the Clermont County Coroner’s Office will support various new forensic units, allowing investigators to respond rapidly to crime scenes, extract data from mobile devices, and analyze surveillance footage. The National Integrated Ballistic Information Network will also be integrated into the lab, increasing the likelihood of the office solving cases and preventing further violence.
The funding will additionally cover the salaries of three criminalists within the lab, allowing for an immediate response for the swift resolution of violent crimes. This lab will directly support 15 local law enforcement agencies, the countywide Narcotics Unit, the Fire Investigative Unit, the Probation Department, and the Prosecutor’s staff.
Project 3: Brown County Rural Water Association – Wahlsburg Tank Project
The $2,000,000 awarded to the Brown County Rural Water Association to allow them to erect a 2-million-gallon water tower. This water tower will provide an ample, safe amount of portable water to over 30,000 Brown County residents daily. This tower fulfills a critical infrastructure need for both current and future residents.
Project 4: The City of Logan Water Treatment Plant Updates and Water Tower Project
The $1,250,000 awarded to the city of Logan will add a third reverse osmosis (RO) membrane skid and replace an existing smaller 250,000-gallon water tower with a larger 500,000-gallon tower. The city serves about 7,200 residents year-round, and during the tourism season, the population increases to approximately 10,000. This project will protect and enhance drinking water quality and address local system growth needs, supporting the area’s increasing development and seasonal population surges and aiding continued economic prosperity.
Project 5: City of Wellston – Water Treatment Plant Phase 2 Project
The $2,000,000 awarded to the City of Wellston will aid the construction of a new, centralized water treatment plant to replace the two existing ones. This modern water treatment facility will be equipped with advanced technology to purify and disinfect water, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and providing safe drinking water to residents.
Project 6: Clinton County Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant
The $949,566 awarded to the Clinton County Board of Commissioners will enable the continuation of the planning process that will lead to the construction of a wastewater treatment plant to spur residential, commercial, and industrial development in Clinton County and throughout the region.
The next steps of the sanitary sewer planning process made possible by this funding include the identification of the sewer system service area, potential alignment and sizing of sewer mains and related infrastructure, a study of the most effective and efficient treatment process, a conceptual estimate of construction costs, a projection of operational and maintenance costs, and the preliminary design of the treatment plant and collection system.
Project 7: Village of McArthur Waterline Replacement – Phase 1
The $1,000,000 awarded to the Village of McArthur will facilitate the replacement of approximately 10,200 linear feet of aging 6” waterlines, 6,700 linear feet of service lines, 26 gate valves, and 26 fire hydrants. These funds will address aging and failing water infrastructure, replace undersized water lines, gate valves, and outdated fire hydrants. Ultimately, these projects will improve water quality, the reliability of service, fire protection capacity, and lead to long-term taxpayer savings.
Project 8: Village of Williamsburg Sewer Extension
The $1,000,000 awarded to the Village of Williamsburg will expand its current sewer system to accommodate new land parcels on the edge of the village that lack sewer system access. The Village of Williamsburg is annexing 143 acres of developable land on its western border, and a 2500-foot sewer extension is needed to reach them.
Project 9: Village of Winchester Water Treatment Plant Improvements
The $1,250,000 awarded to the Village of Winchester will expand and modernize the regional plant that services the northern portion of Adams County. This project will address the Findings and Orders issued by the Ohio EPA regarding failing septic tanks in the nearby unincorporated area of Cherry Fork. This water treatment plant will additionally service the newly constructed 55-acre industrial park, adding capacity for growth and accommodating the needs of the growing community. This will help address critical infrastructure needs, support economic vitality, enhance environmental sustainability, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
