ICYMI: Congressman Taylor Applauds Passage of American-Made Automobile Tax Deductions in One Big Beautiful Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Dave Taylor (OH-02) applauds the passage of a provision similar to his United States Automobile Consumer Assistance and Relief Act (USA CAR Act), creating a tax deduction on interest accrued from the purchase of American-made vehicles. This provision was included in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act that the House of Representatives passed on May 22, 2025. The inclusion of this provision will promote American manufacturing, create well-paying American jobs, and secure American supply chains from adversaries like China.
“President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill was chock-full of wins for Southern Ohioans, and I’m proud to say provisions similar to my USA CAR Act, which Senator Moreno also introduced, were one of them,” said Congressman Taylor. “Americans want to keep their hard-earned money in their pockets, be able to access more local, well-paying jobs, and not have to worry about other countries dictating which cars are available and when. This bill achieves each of those goals and I was pleased to see it move one step closer toward becoming law.”
Congressman Taylor introduced the USA CAR Act on April 23, 2025, as a House companion bill to Senator Bernie Moreno’s (R-OH) bill, which he introduced in the Senate on April 1, 2025. After subsequent feedback, both lawmakers updated the text of this bicameral legislation to ensure all taxpayers would be eligible to claim this deduction. This bill now heads to the U.S. Senate for further consideration.
